Maho Bay St Maarten / St Martin
The Maho Bay Area is bustling with activity. With casinos, shopping, beaches, beach bars, restaurants and nightclubs all in Maho, you need look no further for your activities! Unique to Maho is its proximity to the airport and because of this, it provides a beach which provides a very unusual experience. Airplanes take off and land over the beach so closely that it is as if you can reach out and touch them. Mornings on the beach are serene, but between the hours of 1 pm and 5pm, the 747’s come and go and tourists stand poised with their cameras to capture the sight! Touchdown of the planes is a mere 100 yards or less from the white powdery beach. The Sunset Beach Bar is on one end of the beach and provides a wonderful vantage point as well as a place to get a bite to eat or something to drink.
If a calmer beach setting is wanted, Mullet Bay Beach is just around the corner adjacent to the 18 hole Mullet Bay Golf Course. As Maho is on the western side of the island, either of the beaches is a beautiful area from which to catch that spectacular Caribbean sunset as the sun slips into the shimmering sea.
At night, Maho comes alive. Festive lights line the street where you can find the finest of every type of cuisine imaginable. An island fixture for more than twenty years, Cheri’s provides open air dining, dancing and fun for all. If you prefer Sushi, then visit Bamboo Bernies. And for fine international dining there is a host of fine eateries in Maho and others only minutes away.
For entertainment, Maho also offers a nightclub and piano bar. For the gamblers, Casino Royale is directly in Maho. Casino Royale, with 14000 square feet is the largest casino on St. Maarten. The Casino has free Cabaret Shows every evening. If you need a change of pace, just minutes away is Atlantis Casino as well.
Whether it is daytime or night, there is always something to do in the Maho Area.
